The journey of the Kotak Charitable Foundation is deeply rooted in the values of service and perseverance. It began with Shri Shambhuba Thakkar(Kotak), the elder of the Thakkar(Kotak) family, who moved from North Gujarat to Kutch with the vision of uplifting his large family. However, before his aspirations could fully take shape, the devastating earthquake of 26th January 2001 struck Kutch and surrounding areas, separating many families and leaving behind a trail of destruction.
Undeterred by the tragedy, Shri Shambhuba embraced the challenge with renewed determination. For him, family was not just limited to his own but extended to everyone around him. With a deep-seated passion for service, he dedicated himself to ensuring access to food and healthcare for those in need.
Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, Mayurbhai Thakkar(Kotak) chose Anand’s Vidyanagar as his karmabhumi (place of work and dedication). Inspired by the values instilled in him by his grandfather and father, Mayurbhai expanded the family’s legacy of service by integrating sports—one of his passions—alongside health and education. Recognizing that many talented athletes lack the necessary support to progress, he, along with his family and colleagues, established the Kotak Charitable Foundation in 2022.
Today, the Kotak Charitable Foundation stands as a beacon of hope for aspiring athletes, particularly in badminton and other racket sports. Through its initiatives, the foundation continues to empower young talents, ensuring they receive the guidance, training, and opportunities they need to excel.
